| Our purpose is to ensure that Purple Martins (species Progne Subis in the Swallow Family) do not become extinct in the near future. Invasive bird species such as the English House Sparrow and the European Starling are multiplying at an alarming rate here in the United States, Canada and Mexico. These two species alone are killing off and displacing many of our native birds, including the Purple Martin. It is estimated that they have caused the Purple Martin population to decline to only be about 10% in size today as compared to the population in the early 1930’s. Fortunately, over the last 10 years, Purple Martin Landlords have successfully established new colonies of purple martins by using our much better designed and built Gourd-Rack Systems to finally stop the decline of the Purple Martin Species. Purple Martin Propagators goal NOW is to get these numbers going back up in the opposite direction and someday achieve the 1930’s population numbers. |
